Pre-wedding Shoot

Gurveen and Pardeep’s Pre-wedding shoot in London

Canadian couple at The Cow pub that looks like a barn

With most photographers, we don’t usually choose to photograph family weddings, as these are the only opportunities we get to sit back and relax at a wedding! However as I was going to Pardeep’s wedding in Canada as a guest he asked me if I could do a pre wedding shoot for him and his fiancé Gurveen, as they both wanted the Johara experience 🙂

Pardeep and I literally grew up together, we lived on opposite streets and in the last few years spent a fair amount of time together… before he got married and moved to Canada 🙂

As the wedding was taking place in Canada, Pardeep and Gurveen wanted something that had a British theme to their pre-wedding shoot. After some brain storming and trying to work out what to do in the lovely British weather, I managed to get The Cow pub in Stratford (London). The reason why we choose this bar is because it has a wonderful warm barn like feeling to it, and the backdrop was perfect for the style of images we wanted.

You can visit The Cow at Westfield Stratford City, right opposite the splendid Olympic Park. Serving the best in fresh food, delicious wines and real good ales. They have two floors and a mezzanine, so there’s plenty of amazing views and room for everyone to enjoy the fine attributes of their British pub.

Once we finished shooting at The Cow we headed over to Wanstead Flats to switch up the type of images we got. Those of you that have been to or seen Wanstead Flats will know there’s not much there, but we managed to create some amazing images.

Hope you enjoy images and we look forward to your comments.

Civil Wedding

Shveta and Kieran’s civil wedding at Stoke Park

Bride and groom about to kiss at the reception party table at Stoke Park

To sum up Shveta and Kieran’s civil wedding in three words, it would be sophisticated, classy and refined. As time has gone on, we have learnt that Shveta is a bit of a perfectionist, and her civil wedding day was really no exception. Every detail on the day was thought out and executed to precision. Having photographed Shveta’s sister’s wedding (Nivedita & Varun), we really weren’t expecting anything less! It’s probably worth adding Shveta is one of the creative brains behind her families catering business Poonams and her very own cake business Akito Blush.

We often meet families who treat us like one of their own, and the Sharma’s and extended family did exactly that. We can definitely say that after covering three weddings and multiple other ceremonies in the last few years.

The couple chose Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire for the civil wedding ceremony, it was an intimate affair for both families nearest and dearest, which is just the way we like it. Stoke Park is Europe’s leading 5 AA Red Star Country Club, Spa and Hotel and is set among 300 acres of glorious parkland, lakes, historic gardens and monuments created over the past one thousand years. It is a private estate and there is no public footpaths, or right of way access anywhere over the 300 acres so you know this venue has a lot of unspoilt natural beauty and we’re glad to be one of the photographers to have photographed there.

Kieran the handsome groom looked dashing on the day and was just like his personality, smooth, sophisticated and careful with his words (he’s a lawyer you see). Shveta looked amazing in her beautiful show stopping white gown, and looked every inch the perfect bride. The makeup maestro Rani Bhogal made Shveta look absolutely beautiful, we are pretty certain she has magic in her hands 🙂

I’d also like to thank to Rima and Guv for stepping in and helping me photograph this beautiful civil wedding. I wasn’t actually sure I would be able to shoot on the day, as I had been pretty ill for about a month before, but luckily I managed to pull through!

Hope you enjoy the images as much as we do and we look forward to your feedback.

Civil Wedding

Luckshiny and Kunal’s civil wedding at Ealing Town Hall

Couple leave the Ealing Town Hall after their civil wedding with confetti thrown over them

We actually met our bride Luckshiny a number of years ago when we covered her friend’s wedding back in 2012 when she was one of the lovely bridesmaids. Totally oblivious to this fact (for both parties!) when the time came for a consultation with us, Luckshiny was a little surprised to see herself in our slideshow pictures! We love a good surprise 🙂

Luckshiny had decided to get ready in a hotel close to her wedding venue Ealing Town Hall, West London, which was absolutely beautiful and had a lovely boutique feel to it. Hair and makeup was done by the talented Dazzling Darling makeup artist, who made Luckshiny look a million dollars.

Once our lovely bride was ready in her elegant white dress, she had one main request (and a strange one at that) and that was to take some photos of her in the free standing bath tub in the hotel room. We don’t get requests like this often, but it was like she was reading my mind. I had the exact same thought when I saw the bathroom. However who knew getting into the tub would be so funny.

Once we arrived at Ealing Town Hall, Kunal was waiting eagerly for Luckshiny to enter & to make her legally his wife! The ceremony itself was an intimate affair involving just the immediate family from both sides (which is the just the way we like it).

Here are a few moments from their civil wedding. We hope you enjoy a small snippet of their beautiful day.

Hindu Wedding

Nivedita and Varun’s wedding at Ditton Manor

Indian couple Nivedita and Varun together in a maze at Ditton Manor

To say it was an absolute pleasure in photographing the intimate Indian wedding ceremony and stunning reception at the historic Ditton Manor would be a big understatement. We loved covering every moment!

The Hindu religious ceremony was held at the brides beautiful residence, which could have easily be mistaken for an actual wedding venue! The ceremony was a beautiful intimate affair, with the couples nearest and dearest. With the amount of love we received from everyone, we also felt like part of the family. The best thing about doing wedding photography, is the amazing families we meet. The extended Poonams family definitely feel like old family friends, which we just love.

The wedding reception was just as lavish and decadent as the wedding ceremony. The event took place on a separate day at the historic Ditton Manor, which was once the playground of Henry VIII and his daughter Mary I. There has been an estate at Ditton Park since at least 1066. The venue itself promises character and a location like no other. From the moment you cross its tranquil moat, you will feel like you’re in a different world. Ditton Manor, is probably one of Berkshire’s best kept secrets and we’re glad to say we were the photographers for one of the first Indian wedding held there.

With the brides family coming from a background in the Indian catering industry, we knew all of the events would be spectacular, and they really didn’t fail to deliver. Poonams Catering has over 40 years of experience in the catering business and delivering an amazing service for Asian/Indian weddings.

We can truly say that all of the wedding events were so beautifully planned, and every detail was immaculate. Having got to know the Poonams sisters, we weren’t expecting anything less! The stunning cake was made by the bride’s sister, which was nothing short of amazing. Akito Blush provides beautiful wedding cakes, which are master pieces in their own right!

Nivedita and Varun actually met at university, and Varun popped the question in Italy (aw – how romantic!). The love between the two was plain to see, we can only wish them the very best in this new chapter of their lives together!

Below are some images of their big day, we hope you enjoy browsing through the fun, laughter and love of the couple and the crazy Poonams family!

Finally a massive well done too all the suppliers. Rani Bhogal the ever so talented makeup and hair maestro, Akito Blush for the beautifully made wedding cake, and Poonams for putting together the wedding like an orchestra.

Pre-wedding Shoot

Mitika and Gurpreet’s pre-wedding shoot at Box Hill, Surrey

Couple (Mitikia and Gurpreet) holding each other with bride holding coloured balloons in the clouds

With Mitika coming from a background in design and illustration, we knew this was going to be an interesting pre-wedding shoot with not only colour but style also.

Before the pre-wedding shoot took place, Mitika had mentioned she wanted to bring a prop for the shoot. After some deliberation we agreed on using balloons; and colourful balloons at that! So now we had balloons on the agenda for the beautiful pre-wedding shoot for our stylish couple at the beautiful location of Box Hill in Surrey, our minds were going crazy with all the ideas we had.

Box Hill is the perfect place to discover a family walk and explore the beautiful Surrey Hills. Forming part of the North Downs, Box Hill has breathtaking views across the surrounding countryside. It’s home to some fantastic wildlife and plants too, including the Adonis blue butterfly and bee orchid.

However who knew we’d only have a short time with them before they were set free… accidentally! Nevertheless we got some amazing photos whilst we had them in our hands, literally!

The images reminded us of the lyrics to the old Fifth Dimension song, “Up Up and Away” which are also extremely fitting for these two.

We’d love your feedback, so please feel free to comment below.

Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon
We could float among the stars together, you and I
For we can fly we can fly

Pre-wedding Shoot

Kiran and Raj’s pre-wedding shoot in London

Couple walking in the flowers
We did a wonderful pre-wedding shoot for Kiran and Raj a number of years ago in London before their beautiful Sikh wedding. Actually this was before we had this website but recently, we revisited some of our older images and thought they were too good not to share.

Now as they say, the rest is history.

Sikh Wedding

Jas and Amrit’s Sikh wedding at Sri Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara, Gravesend, Kent and City Pavilion, Essex

Bride and groom posing in gurudwara
We were really honored that we were chosen to document Jas and Amrit’s Sikh wedding at the beautiful Gurdwara (Sikh temple) Sri Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara, Gravesend, Kent. We had such an awesome time covering all of their wedding events, that we were sad when it all ended!

You could say both sides of the family are into drink… one being alcoholic and the other being the good white stuff… Milk! Amrit’s family own a dairy in the Midlands and Jas’s family own a mobile bar hire company…so you could say the love of drink bought the two together?!

The wedding itself was HUGE! In terms of number of guests, it was probably the biggest wedding we had covered back in 2012, luckily the venue at the City Pavilion catered for everyone’s needs. Both sides of the family were so welcoming, and we really felt part of the family. The makeup master himself, Dil Matharu made Jas look a million dollars and Amrit looked liked the perfect handsome gentleman. They had such an awesome wedding reception and both were beaming in happiness.

We wish you the world of happiness together Amrit and Jas … the world is your oyster 🙂

We hope everyone enjoys the images as much as we do! We wish we could have posted more images, but we were afraid of everyone getting finger ache from scrolling down the page too much!

Team Johara

Sikh Wedding

Manvinder and Meny’s wedding reception at the Goosedale, Nottinghamshire

Posing by the window

Below we are showcasing the beautiful reception of Manvinder and Menveet at the stunning Goosedale Banqueting Hall, Nottinghamshire. The colour white can represent many things, it can provide clarity, purification and makes a good choice for new beginnings.  Here at Johara, we really love the colour white, in fact we really do believe in white energy! The photos below really represent how white can represent a new beginning, with Manvinder and Manveet starting their new lives together as a married couple. We really loved how the white in the hotel room worked with the bride and groom getting ready before their beautiful and intimate reception.

Goosedale is a historic landmark site dating back to the 17th century. Set within over 100 acres of pure tranquillity and breath-taking views of Nottinghamshire.

This privately owned outstanding venue is minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the Nottingham city centre and within easy access from junctions 26 and 27 of the M1.

Classed as one of the premier, leading venues in the Midlands, we offer a highly experienced and innovative management team who work closely with you to create tailor-made packages to suit your needs.

We really hope you enjoy the images and look forward to your feedback.

Hindu Wedding

Priya and Sunil’s Hindu wedding at the Millennium Mayfair, London

Priya and Sunil
We earlier featured the pre-wedding shoot of the lovely Priya and Sunil, at Canary Wharf, London. We are now pleased to share some of their wedding day images for you all to enjoy. The day itself was a lavish affair from start to finish at the beautiful Millennium Mayfair Hotel, London. All we can say is that we immensely enjoyed covering the wedding day, every single detail of the wedding had been thought out beautifully, it felt like everything had a place and a purpose. The colours, the vibrancy, the love, the emotions, we loved every minute.

We actually met Priya and Sunil from a close friend of ours, whose wedding we also covered in 2010. We love the fact that they came through to us from their close friends, recommendations are the best bookings!

We really had a hard time deciding what pictures to add on the blog, as we loved them all, below is a small selection from the wedding day. Look out for the full album at the upcoming Asiana Wedding Exhibition in January 2013!

Pre-wedding Shoot

Jas and Amrit’s pre-wedding shoot at St Katherines Dock, London

Jasdeep and Amrit touching heads

We took the uber cool Jas and Amrit to the picture perfect St Katherines Dock just before they were about to tie the knot. Although the day was so cold, the beautiful couple managed to keep each other warm by snuggling up to each other, we of course took this as the perfect photo opportunities!

Amrit being the perfect gentleman proposed to the gorgeous Jas as a surprise (which we sneakily knew about). Choosing the right place to go down on one knee can be troublesome for any groom, luckily we found a clearing under the beautiful Millennium Bridge, which was lit up so beautifully. The surrounding trees gave them the privacy they needed, which was perfect! We could hardly contain our excitement before he went down on one knee. Luckily Amrit had given us the heads up and gave us a chance to move back, otherwise we’d probably have shouted, “SAY YES, SAY YES!”

These guys make such a beautiful couple, and compliment each other with such ease. We also had a blast covering their big fat Sikh wedding, which we can’t wait to show everybody! Keep tuned to our blog for more Asian wedding photography from this fantastic couple and others…

Pre-wedding Shoot

Pavan and Kam’s pre-wedding shoot at Wrest Park, Bedfordshire

Pavan and Kam dancing in the fields
Before the nuptials of Pavan and Kam, we had the honor of capturing some pre-wedding shoot photos of this loved up couple at the stunning and grand venue which is Wrest Park in Bedfordshire.

It’s quite a funny story of how we got to know Pavan and Kam, we covered one of their friends wedding portrait shoots back in 2010, and we were asked to take a quick shot of both Pavan and Kam. The photo came out fantastic, and 2 years on, we were privileged that they remembered us from that moment.

The photos below really reflect the love the couple have for each other, we hope we have captured those special moments in a natural and unobtrusive way, we also added in a cheeky and cheesy moment between the two (if you haven’t guessed, it’s the shadow heart shot!)

We only actually had less than an hour to get some shots before the venue closed, so we worked fast to get the results we both wanted. We really love these photos, as they reflect the romance and “floaty-ness” (if that is a word!) of the atmosphere between the two.

We look forward to posting some images of their beautiful big day. So keep tuned for those!

Pre-wedding Shoot

Heena and Prab’s pre-wedding shoot in West Ham Park, East London

Silhouette behind an umbrella in Centra London
This must have been one of the closest pre-wedding shoots we’ve ever done at the West Ham Park in East London, which is conveniently about a 2 minutes walk from our front door!

As Heena and Prab met at high school, we wanted to bring back some of their old school romance memories, so they both came dressed in their school uniforms (just to get into the real spirit of things!). Although they got a few odd looks walking to the park, especially as Prab’s blazer was very torn & graffiti was scribbled all over it (!) the overall look worked amazingly well in the playground. Let just say he’s lucky that the gorgeous Heena took the attention away from his uniform (we love you really Prab).

To continue on from the park shoot, we headed down to Piccadilly Circus in central London to catch a few more sneaky shots. Although we finished way past midnight, we really did have such an awesome time during the shoot.

Here’s some of our favourite shots, we’ll save the rest until after the wedding 😉
